The incredible Melbourne-based artist has recently popped up on our radar, and already we are big fans! With a focus on plants and geology layered into painted collages, Alice’s work manifests natural yet surreal worlds.
Her latest exhibition, ‘’ has just opened at Gallery 9 in Sydney. Alice suggests the impression of aperture by creating painted portals into secret worlds that are simultaneously familiar and ambiguous. She encircles her landscapes with cut-out, layered shapes, providing slithers of information and context to the viewer.
Using found imagery as a starting point for the shape of her work, Alice meticulously recreates her collages with oil paints, paying close attention to detail to embody an exact replica of her source material. Sydney friends – get down to see this on our behalf!
