Before there was , there was… .

Founded in 1948, the print magazine has long occupied a cherished place on the coffee tables of Aussie homes.

Australian House & Garden has led the discussion on home design for the past seven decades, and we are both proud and excited to celebrate this impressive milestone with our readers,’ tells editor-in-chief Lisa Green.

Charting the history of Australian interiors trends, the magazine has taken generations of design-lovers into beautiful homes and inspiring gardens, offering expert tips and practical decorating and reno advice to inspire house-proud Australians.

For a print publication to reach a milestone of this magnitude, in the current media climate, and to continue to rank among Australia’s Top 10 most-read titles, is VERY impressive.

A special 70th birthday edition is now on stands. ‘The current issue sees us reflect on past inspiration and aspirations, all the while looking to the future of Australian home life,’ adds Lisa, who has lead the magazine since 2006.

Having introduced architecture and design talents such as Robin Boyd, Syd Ancher, Harry Seidler, Grant Featherston and Marion Hall Best to the Australian public, H&G continues to champion local talent. Recent years have also seen the magazine shine a spotlight on sustainable living.

Happy Birthday House & Garden – we’re already looking forward to a centenary!
